Each year Te Tapuae assists tauira to achieve educational success by administering a number of scholarships on behalf of various providers.

Scholarships for Secondary Students

Yamada O’Regan Secondary School Scholarships(Currently Closed)
The Ngāi Tahu Mātauranga Trust offers Yamada O’ Regan Secondary School Scholarships to “at risk” Ngāi Tahu studying around the country. These scholarships are open to students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 who are achieving academically, displaying leadership qualities and participating in whānau, hapū or iwi related affairs. The value of monies awarded may vary.

Environmental Science and Research (ESR)Scholarship
The ESR Scholarship Programme aims to encourage and enable Māori to take an active role in, and to continue to develop the science knowledge within Aotearoa. Applicants must be studying subjects which support ESR’s mission of “protecting people and the environment” these include; science, maths information technology, te reo Māori and/or geography. Up to 2 secondary school scholarships valued at $1250.00 each will be offered to students in years 11, 12 and 13. There are up to 3 tertiary scholarships valued at $2,000 each for students studying at a Te Tapuae partner institution (i.e CPIT, Lincoln University, Otago Polytech, University of Canterbury and the University of Otago) and must be enrolled in specific fields of study.

Ngāi Tahu Kā Pūtea Grants and Scholarships
Please note that from 1 October 2011 Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Whai Rawa and Direct Distributions team will manage Kā Pūtea Grants and Scholarships (available to registered Ngāi Tahu who are enrolled in tertiary study).
